Conres AB has been appointed design and build contractor for the expansion of The More Hotel 2.0 in Lund. The project includes both new construction and refurbishment of the hotel property located in the historic locomotive sheds and represents the next step in the hotel’s long-term development.
The project has been developed in close collaboration between client and contractor with a focus on creating long-term value and sound conditions for implementation. Throughout the process, functionality, quality and cost have been carefully balanced to shape a robust project tailored to both operational needs and the specific characteristics of the site.
The expansion comprises approximately 5,870 sqm GFA and includes new hotel studios, restaurant and conference facilities, as well as a new entrance section that connects the existing and new buildings into a cohesive whole. The project also includes long-stay rooms, a wine cellar and an underground garage of approximately 1,400 sqm.
The existing building, originally constructed as locomotive sheds, provides a strong identity for the project. The expansion further develops the industrial character through materials and architectural expression such as brick, exposed steel details and structural elements that reference the site’s history and strengthen the connection between old and new.
“We have worked on this project for a considerable period of time and placed great emphasis on finding the right level and the right solutions for the overall concept. It has been a thorough process where functionality, financial viability and long-term perspectives have been central. We now look forward to moving ahead with the execution together with Conres,” says Peter Dahlqvist, CEO of The More Hotel.
The project will be carried out in direct proximity to ongoing hotel operations and within a developing urban district, placing high demands on planning and coordination throughout the construction phase.
“This project has evolved through close dialogue with the client over a long period. Our shared focus has been to create a deliverable project with the right balance between functionality, quality and cost. For Conres, this is a significant project and we look forward to executing it with the structured and long-term approach that has characterised the work to date,” says Vaidotas Macys, CEO of Conres AB.
Construction is scheduled to commence in June 2026, with completion planned for December 2027.
